4th Annual "Evening with an Angel on a Jazz Note"
This year’s event was held on Saturday, December 7, 2002 at the Overlea Event Centre. It featured the music of the Bobby Rucks Group, a local jazz group, a buffet dinner and a silent auction.
Part of the proceeds from the event have been given to the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) to fulfill the $20,000 pledge to endow the NABJ Allison Fisher scholarship. In addition, part of the proceeds have been given to the scholarship committee at St. Stephen A.M.E. in Essex, MD for a book award to a graduating senior.
The third recipient of the NABJ Allison Fisher Scholarship, Rashida Rawls, was in attendance. She is pictured with Allison’s parents, Ron and Pat Fisher.

Rev. William A. Gray, III, pastor, and Golden Watters, scholarship chair, from St. Stephen A.M.E. were on hand to accept a check. In accepting the check, Rev. Gray said, the church encourages all graduating seniors to pursue additional education beyond high school and this donation to our scholarship committee will help further that cause. I’ve known Allison since she was in grade school and it is so in keeping with her memory to encourage and enable others to strive for higher learning.
